On Catwalk: Chapel Street

There is nothing better than visiting new places, right?! Currently, I am living in Australia and I act like a tourist when I have some breaks. If, just like me, you are curious about how Melbourne is... Let's visit Chapel St with me!
Chapel Street is a precinct in Melbourne that is straight and intersects suburbs as South Yarra, Windsor and Prahran and it is described as the capital of fashion and style. There, you can find good stores, second hand shops, entertainment, bar, delicious restaurants, nightclubs and art graffiti.

- Bar/ Cafés/ Restaurante
1) Hooked Fish&Chips ($)

Assim que saltei do tram (transporte público aqui), fui almoçar com a minha amiga Ingrid nesse restaurante. BBB: bom, bonito e barato!

As soon as I got off the tram (public transport here), I found a good restaurant and went there to eat with my friend, Ingrid. Hooked Fish&Chips is cheap and with a good atmosphere. I have only paid $10.95 for fish fillet, potatoes and salad (with very healthy ingredients, such as chia). I highly recommend because you can personalize it and it is very tasty.

2) Abacus ($$)

Another day, I had lunch with my friend Gisele in Abacus restaurant and I've felt delighted! The place is airy, stylish and beautiful! It reminds me some restaurants in São Paulo, in Brazil. The food is signed by different chefs and with an artistic approach - without forgetting the flavour and seasonings. It is a bar, cafe and restaurant. there is a special menu in breakfast, executive at lunch and delicious pizzas. Go check their instagram: @abacus_melbourne

3) Yellow Bird ($)

Located in 122 Chapel St, Windsor, is a Mexican bar/restaurant that serves burritos, hamburger, nachos and Corona beers. I fell in love with the d'cor - colourful and with flowers. For the tourists, a good tip is to hang outside amongst the Chapel street traffic. It is good to visit with friends and the price varies $14 - $21.

4) The Smith ($$)

Actually, this restaurant is in High street, which is near Chapel. After a multi-million-dollar renovation and becoming one of Melbourne´s best restaurants and bar with Asian food, I could not resist recommending it. It is casual and also a pub with aussie snacks and nice cocktails - made by the executive chef Brad Simpson. If you are interested in having a private party, the pub has 2 private spaces upstairs (called "Mr Smith" and "Mrs Smith") for between 10-135 guests.

5) Morris Jones

7) Messina ($)

Com toda a certeza, é um must go!! O segredo do sucesso?! Sabor irresistível e preço mega acessível.

Surely, it is a must go!!! Gelato Messina is very traditional in Australia and with long queues on weekends. But it is worth it! The secret of success?! Irresistible flavour and affordable prices.

- Prahran Market

Adorei conhecer! Estou apaixonada!! O de pêssego é uma delícia!!!

So nice! It is a farmer's fair with variety, flea market, fresh food and you can even have breakfast and lunch there. If you go, you must try the Turkish treat 'Baklava'. I am in love!! The peach one is delicious!!

- Grafites/ Street Art
A Chapel St é recheada de arte de rua e grafites. Embaixo, deixo alguns exemplos.
Chapel St is full of art street and graffiti. Below, some examples.

Along Chapel, there are thrift shops with beautiful and cheap goods. I bought a purse for $6. There is also some second hand shops with only branded products, as Chanel and Gucci.

- Explorar a parte residencial/ Residential area

The houses are very different from the Brazilian ones, so a good option is to also visit the residential area and explore this part. There is also parks in the middle of the suburbs.
* Dica de morador local/ Tips from local people

My colleague Daniel, @skttlz_, lives in Chapel St and highly recommends visiting Boston Sub bar. It is a food place, but there is more. In the back door you can go through and end in a secret cocktail bar  called Jungle Boy. There cocktails are great!

Who has already visited Chapel already and has experience to share? For those who didn't, do you feel like visiting?
